Congratulations to the ‘Cockroaches’ of India, proving to the world that success over brutal force, corruption, injustice, and authoritarianism is possible and change for the better can be achieved. You have become the beacon of hope to all the activists around the world; expanding and defending freedom, democracy, and justice not only in India, but around the globe.

A heartfelt congratulations on your magnificent victory in India. You shattered the false invincibility of the house of neoliberalism. You are not alone, many progressive individuals and activists around the world wish to support you for more victories yet to come. I have been thinking about how I could contribute. I'm a retired academician from the baby boomers generation (ages 61-79) an old ‘cockroach’ if you may, and I dearly wish to help your noble cause. My power rests in my pen and my words, feelings and emotions; my love for you, the beautiful‘cockroaches’, my real-life heroes. I want to be included in your ‘cockroaches’ team. Yes, me too, an old-timer ‘cockroach’. I can envision that one day, not too far, we, the progressive activists with a big heart will win and bring the global house of cards of neoliberalism and arrogance down. We will show the world who the real cockroaches are.

The ‘cockroaches’ of India have shown us how to succeed. Now imagine what would be like if all the cockroaches of the world unite in their struggles to build a better world?
‘A youth movement born from exam leaks and online mockery has pierced Narendra Modi’s aura of invincibility and may yet reshape Indian politics.’
…’Mr Modi has built an authoritarian order which rests upon Hindu majoritarianism and demonising Muslims. Education in the country has been subordinated to ideology and political patronage. But corruption in public exams cannot be divided so easily along religious lines. A Hindu graduate in northern India and a Muslim graduate in its southern cone experience the same anger over leaked papers and worthless qualifications. The grievance, crucially, creates an economic identity that cuts across the BJP’s preferred religious cleavage.
‘Until Mr Pradhan’s resignation, ministerial accountability to public protest had all but disappeared; loyalty to Mr Modi’s ideological project had mattered more. The CJP has also broken the spell of fear that has dominated the public square. The movement’s leadership were not requesting generosity; they were asserting a claim to clean administration, fair exams and ministerial accountability. Writing in the Guardian, the historian Mukul Kesavan says the CJP’s social-media dexterity is crucial. Like New York’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, they combine eloquence, message discipline and composure, making Mr Modi look leaden. Their victory may have produced not merely a protest movement, but a new generation of political leaders.
…’But the political scientist Christophe Jaffrelot argues that the CJP represents a much deeper revolt than just anger over exam leaks. It has, he says, become the voice of educated young Indians trapped by jobless growth, poor education and insecure work. Many Indians are either cockroaches now or in the process of becoming them. To my mind, there is an urgency that Gen Z should get a good hearing to their call for a better world. They must be helped and supported to succeed.
Today the youth of the world have committed themselves to build a world that is just, free and prosperous for all by promoting and practicing the true values of what it means to be human. The power of a value-led life coupled with the commitment and the passion of young activists is a force for change that cannot be matched. They are empowering the world for the common good.
I firmly believe that we, the older generation, should join the youth by offering them the fruits of our age, experience, insight and vision. Together in this intergenerational partnership, we can become the ultimate force for good and build the world of our dreams. Carpe diem! See the link below for more.
